Drafting and planning - Influences

I have recently looked into the Indie pop Genre and discovered the artists that for me have the largest influence when drafting and organizing this first draft.

The first artist I found that inspired me when deciding what genre of music to go for was Hozier. Hozier greatly influenced my decisions on genre, clothing and the overall aesthetic I wanted to achieve through him being the arguably most controversial artist of today for pushing the boundaries of what society conformed to people became obsessed with Hozier's daring and bold personality and his willingness to say whatever he felt was right. An example of this is his first no.#1 single 'Take me to church' which became a hit within the UK though the song discussed the idiocy of religion which greatly offended people, whereas others were attracted to his uniqueness. This influenced me when deciding that the ethos of my magazine would be to be edgy yet professional while also pushing the boundaries of society.

My second artist which influenced me was Alex Turner from the Arctic Monkeys. This artist influenced me as he is a very true character who stick's with what he believes in no matter what and doesn't care what they media thinks of him, which is what I want to be reflected through my main cover artist to create a more laid back and cool image for him. Additionally, I am influenced by Alex Turner since he too is influenced by the 1950's, the era I am most greatly interested in when considering my magazine. The clothing style and hair this artist has immediately reflects the 1950's and is quite appealing to both younger and older audiences which is why I too would want something similar to this within my magazine especially my cover star.
